Conclusion
If I would have never flown the superb KingKong 90GT, the Rodeo would easily become my new favorite quad. I know, it’s hard to compare both since the KingKong is a micro, the Rodeo a mini racer. Because of the ultra low mass, the KingKong has this extreme ‘anti-gravity’ feeling which makes so much fun. The Rodeo offers this, too – but not as distinctive, due to the higher weight. But on the other hand, the Rodeo compensates this with a better punch, more power and the distinct ‘racer sound’ (which the KingKong does not).
While flight times are average only, the Rodeo scores with an impressive top speed though (this thing is fast like a bullet!) and a robust and durable housing. This quad survives lots of crashes – mine already did, without a single scratch!
The Rodeo is small, lightweight, easy to transport – and does not require registration due to the ultra low weight of 148 grams. There is only one point of criticism: the crappy FPV camera. Shame on you, Walkera! But luckily it’s an easy task to replace the original cam with the 1000TVL from Banggood (10 Euros only), which delivers a sharp and brilliant picture.
By the way: The Rodeo easily carries the tiny Mobius Mini HD Actioncam which only weighs 27g(!) and shoots 1080p HD videos with 60 FPS!
Thingiverse Mods
A cloverleaf antenna greatly improves the video transmission quality. Banggood now offers a mini cloverleaf replacement antenna with handy snap-on plug, so there is no soldering required. To protect the fragile top of the antenna, feel free to download this protection cap from Thingiverse.
The tiny and ultra-lightweight Mobius Mini action cam fits perfectly on the Rodeo 110. Get this Mobius Mini camera mount from Thingiverse to attach the Mobius right onto the battery and fix the camera mount with the velcro strap. You’re now prepared to shoot amazing 1080p@60 HD videos with your Rodeo!
